A Showstopping Luxury Wedding Cake in Florence, Italy

Drawing inspiration from luxury wedding bouquets, I wanted this cake to feel like it was bursting with life. I incorporated a stunning variety of handcrafted sugar flowers, including classic and English roses, peonies, sweet peas, anemones, wheat grass, posies, parrot tulips, and tulips, along with a lush selection of hand-painted sugar leaves. Each flower was created with meticulous attention to detail—starting as a white sugar bloom before being hand-painted and dusted to achieve rich, multidimensional shading. The signature marbled background gave the cake a subtle elegance, beautifully complementing the Italian marble decor at the venue.

The Art & Challenge of Creating a Bespoke Wedding Cake

Creating this luxury wedding cake in Florence was both a creative joy and a technical challenge. With so many vibrant colors and floral varieties, balancing the composition was key—just like arranging a real wedding bouquet, achieving harmony takes skill. The sweet peas were particularly fun to create with their electric blue and fuchsia hues, and I loved hand-painting the delicate streaks on the parrot tulips.
